My creative journey!

My creative journey!

Creativity for me meant drawing as a child, endlessly and making cards and greetings for everyone in my class. My earliest memory of drawing is making crafty cards with my Dad and Mom when I was 7, and enjoying the life with papers, glue, sparkle pens and all the mess.

I'm thankful my gut guided me to not pursue technical degree, my very last minute decision got me to take up Architecture. I did 5 years of under grad in Architecture and through it I realised how much I enjoyed drawing and playing with different alphabets/words. Now, when I look back, it was the start of my journey for Illustration and typography.

I took up projects on the side to work on after my college hours and self - learned everything I needed through online education that Youtube and Coursera generously gave me. I realised I was decent when I got a logo project for my professors new company and also felt really happy when I was working on anything related to illustration and design. After my graduation, I took up masters in urban design with a reinforced thought that I need to have good education to make it in the architecture world. BUT I soon realised I didn't like working in any architecture firm because all my experiences working in these firms lacked any creative pursuit, it would be slogging for hours at end and no happiness for me. I decided to pursue building my own brand and working for self.

I worked on exciting projects and slowly gained courage to let go of the architecture life. I strived to upgrade my skills and continue to grow and learn through this new field which filled me with happiness! In 2019, on a seemingly mundane evening, I met Harpreet for coffee along with other artist friends and with our mutual love for stationery, we decided to build Ninegram. I had a fulfilling business journey which enabled me to create ALL the designs printed on every single product and selling more than 5000+ orders around the world, got me a very happy stationery high! This journey got me to understand a new side of me, being an entrepreneur and business women whilst being creative, and I'm grateful for the 3 years of business that helped me navigate into who I want to be as a creative.

Since the last two years, I've been working with clients and brands to make illustrations for packaging, branding and more. I'm also working on my very first illustrated children's book and another brand of mine opening its doors soon.

It's been a fulfilling journey that has taught me a lot, with ups and downs and happy sad moments, I'm glad I had the courage and love for myself to choose this despite the very tempting and comfortable job offers that firms offered in the world of architecture. I now carry the best of both worlds, design and illustration !

Thank you for supporting me :)
